Died 31 Oct 1918 probably in the flue epidemic which caused thirty deaths in the unit about that time. He was born in Yarm and was living there when he enlisted at Middlesbrough. Cherat New Cem, India

Yarm1914 believe that Anthony was born in 1886 to Joseph and Margaret Suggett (nee Gains) in Harbrons Yard, Yarm. His father was a labourer and he had 2 brothers Stephen 8 and William 2 and one sister Elizabeth 5. In 1890 brother John came along.
By 1891 the family are living in the High Street with Florence J Taylor 9 a scholar and 2 lodgers William Guiseman 25 from Liverpool and Edmond Gill 27 from Atherington, Yorkshire working on the railway. Joseph 39 and Margaret 37 have just moved to Commercial Street in Crook and is a labourer. They have 5 children all born in Yarm, Stephen12 , Elizabeth 9, William 6, Anthony 4 and John 1. Soon after the family moved to Commercial Street in Crook. In 1894 the family returned to Yarm and Margaret Jane was born. The family then split up when Elizabeth married Arthur Parker on 29 July 1899 and moved to Middlesbrough. John became an inmate at Acklam Industrial school and worked in the kitchen garden. In England the 1857 Industrial Schools Act was intended to solve problems of juvenile delinquency, by removing poor and neglected children from their home environment to a boarding school. The Act allowed magistrates to send disorderly children to a residential industrial school.
Anthony became a labourer before joining the 1st battalion Alexandra Princess of Wales Regiment (Green Howards) as a regular soldier. By 1911, his parents and their daughter Margaret Jane aged 17, living in Stainsby Yard in Yarm, were joined by their nephew Norman Peckitt 8 born in Middlesbrough. The census notes that Margaret had 10 children but only 5 are alive in 1911.
